Continuing LastPass’s Accessibility Journey: LastPass’s VPAT Report Now Available
This past May, as a part of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, LastPass released several accessibility updates to the web vault to ensure LastPass can be used by all. While we were eager to bring these updates to our customers, which included improvements to keyboard operation, screen reader navigation, color contrast, font, and language, this was just the first step in our journey to remove usage barriers. Continuing this journey, LogMeIn conducted an Accessibility Conformance Report for the LastPass Vault, Web Extension and Web Login page, to assess progress and identity areas that require further accessibility improvements. This analysis resulted in 83% WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.1 AA Compliance. The improvements to the web vault in May resulted in a 14% increase in compliance.   A Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) report attests to this 83% compliance. Let’s take a closer look at the importance of this documentation and review why your businesses may require this document.

What is a VPAT report and why does it matter?

A VPAT is a document that explains how information and communication technology products, such as software, hardware, electronic content, and support documentation meet or conform to WCAG 2.1 AA standards and Section 508 (US) and EN 301 549 (EU) of the Rehabilitation Act This Act requires Federal government agencies to develop, procure, or maintain information and communication technology, so that it is accessible to persons with disabilities. Providing VPAT documentation proves 83% WCAG 2.1 AA Compliance for the LastPass Vault. Often, businesses within government and education industries are required to select products or conduct business with companies that have completed an accessibility assessment and are willing to provide their VPAT documentation. The documentation demonstrates the internal analysis of the accessibility of the product. As accessibility requirements become more widespread, additional industries are requiring VPAT reports as a best practice. Conducting an accessibility assessment and documenting results through a VPAT report is a sign of transparency and commitment to improve the accessibility of LastPass. With 83% WCAG 2.1 AA Compliance in the LastPass Vault demonstrates that our journey is still ongoing.  In the areas we fall short, we are committed to continuous improvement, ensuring LastPass is accessible to all.   To learn more about how LastPass supports accessibility, view the latest improvements implemented in May. LastPass’s VPAT documentation can be shared under an NDA. To request LastPass’s VPAT, please reach out to your sales representative or your account manager.
