Webinar Roundup: The Complete Cybersecurity Strategy, and How to Implement It Today

Right now, it’s hard for business leaders to focus on anything other than surviving the current economic downturn and being ready to grow again when things improve.

But what could possibly make things worse before they get better? A security breach. Breaches can cost millions of dollars to remedy and repair and cause business delays and irreparable damage to customer relationships. Nobody needs that kind of headache, especially now. So what can small business owners and larger company IT administrators do to prevent break-ins and damage from data theft, malware, and general malicious activity?

To help answer this question, LastPass hosted the webinar, “The Complete Cybersecurity Strategy and How to Implement it Today.”

Jessica Pagonis, Senior Product Marketing Manager, kicked things off with a brief overview of the current cybersecurity landscape. What are the security risks facing most companies and what are the potential impacts? An informal poll of attendees showed that 69% were either somewhat confident or very confident in the tools that they currently have in place to counter cyber security threats, while 31% were either neutral or not very confident.

The problem continues to be the tradeoff between better security and user understanding and adoption of password policies and procedures. Most users have many apps that they must log into each day, each with its own username and password, and because they find it impossible to remember them, they use simple (weak, easy-to-guess) passwords and recycle them. With many end users working from home these days, it’s relatively easy for hackers to research, guess, and exploit logins using phishing schemes, rented password lists, and other tactics, to break into user apps and company systems, and then steal essential business and customer data.

We’ve made a lot of progress toward solving this dilemma for companies and their employees. A variety of tools, including password managers, multi-factor authentication (MFA), passwordless authentication, single sign on (SSO), and biometrics, are available to help users and their administrators avoid the inconvenience of remembering and updating strong passwords, while virtually eliminating threats from cyber attacks.

In a live demo, Lou DeLillo, Senior Solutions Consultant, showed us how easy it is to use LastPass to manage passwords, multi-factor authentication, and single sign on, scan the Dark Web for compromised emails, and even use passwordless authentication to access a LastPass Secure Password Vault. LastPass makes it also easy for administrators to manage their accounts and keep all of your systems and devices safe from intruders.
