Single Sign-On: Security, Without Knowing Security Is Even There

LastPassFebruary 04, 2020

The average employee actively users 36 cloud applications1 throughout their workday – not to mention, 34% of organizations experience lost or stolen credentials on a monthly basis.2 Passwords are a real security risk to the business and cause significant frustrations and blockers to productivity for employees.

All employees want to do at work is simple: get their work done. That’s why the happy medium for both IT and employees is a security solution that works without the employee even knowing a security solution is there. Single sign-on securely authenticates employees into their assigned applications using a protocol, such as Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), which builds a secure connection between an identity provider (like LastPass) and a service provider (like an app you use at work.)

The secure connection created by single sign-on enables employees to access all of their assigned apps after authenticating just once into their identity provider. What this means in practice is that employees no longer need a password to log into every single application they use at work, while IT still has control over every login

Eliminating the password from the employee login experience means there’s more time left for employees to get their work done, and less password frustrations. Instead of having to authenticate every time an employee navigates between applications (which is frequent!), employees can instantly access their work while single sign-on does all the security work for them. Single sign-on facilitates secure access, without employees even knowing it’s there.

Watch the video below to see how easy it is for employees to gain access to all their work using single sign-on, now available with LastPass Identity.
