Liz CorbettJune 08, 2021
This month, we’re providing all LastPass users a round-up to showcase newly released features available now, along with a sneak peek of what’s to come. Let’s dive in!

A LastPass for everyone

LastPass celebrated Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) on May 20th by releasing several new accessibility features to ensure our password manager is more accessible for all users. You can explore these additional features here.

If you use LastPass to secure your business

The new Admin Console is now the default admin console for all new customers as we migrate existing features and pages from the legacy console and build new and enhanced features, like the Adoption Dashboard – the homepage of your Admin Console. You can learn more about the new Admin Console here.   Starting today, admins will have access to the following features in the new Admin Console:  Enabled additional helpdesk Admin access   Enable certain users to act as an admin for specific requests, like resetting master passwords and managing users and groups, all while disallowing access to the rest of the console and reducing burden on your IT admin. Admins can also enable access to the new Admin Console for existing helpdesk admins from the legacy admin console where they were previously disabled.  Customized experience with granular controls on the Users Table   Customize the users page by choosing which columns to show, answer specific questions with strategic filtering on multiple columns at a time, and take bulk actions across all users and filters.  MFA Admin experience     There is a new multi-factor authentication section in the Admin Console that streamlines visibility and deployment of MFA policies. On this multi-factor tab, admins can set which authentication method they would like to require on the LastPass vault as well as set advanced MFA policies – all in one easy flow that maximizes visibility.

If you use LastPass to secure your personal credentials

Updated password strength calculations  Password strength calculations have been updated to align with recent cybersecurity best practices ensuring greater accuracy and consistency across all areas of LastPass. You may notice changes in your security score – this is expected, and we encourage you to address any new password weaknesses that may arise.  Want to check your score now? Login to LastPass and navigate to your Security Dashboard. Click on “at-risk passwords” to view all your passwords' strengths in the Password Security Page. Be sure to use your password generator to create strong, unique passwords to replace the weak ones!

What’s next for LastPass?

New feature developments are coming soon, and we’re excited to give you a preview of what’s around the corner:
  • Account recovery. You'll now be able to set up Account Recovery via the LastPass web vault in addition to the browser extension, and/or the mobile app – the choice is yours! More account recovery options translate to greater peace of mind knowing you'll be able to recover your account if you forget your master password.
  • Secondary onboarding for the LastPass iOS mobile experience. When you start a LastPass trial, four key steps will help you easily get started and prepared to use LastPass to its fullest extent. A prompt will guide you through turning on biometrics, adding your first site, enabling autofill, and trying autofill – all on your iOS mobile device.
  • Security challenge update. Your Security Dashboard will be the sole location to assess password security and monitor your accounts for data breaches. You can view your security score and see a list of weak and/or reused passwords to improve your score immediately. In the future, all notifications regarding your security score will direct you to the Security Dashboard.
