Cyberattacks and data breaches have become facts of life in today’s digital world. Now more than ever, it’s critical that you stay alert and take the necessary steps to protect yourself and your data online. According to a recent Verizon report, an overwhelming majority of confirmed data breaches (81%) involved weak, default, or stolen credentials. This is a significant increase from the 63% in 2016. As we learned from our research around the psychology of passwords, people have yet to change their insecure password practices and online behavior despite this rise in breaches. From baby boomers to Gen Z, people have different opinions when it comes to online security and how far they’ll go to keep their identity and data safe. We recently surveyed 1,000 men and women ages 13+ across the United States to learn how each age group approaches their password behavior and protecting themselves online.
