Announcing the 2019 LastPass STEM Scholarship Winner

Students on steps

Congratulations to Joe J. from Cedarburg, WI, the winner of the 2019 LastPass STEM ScholarshipJoe will be awarded $10,000 from LastPass towards tuition and $2,000 from MissionPossible, LogMeIn’s social responsibility program, towards books in the coming academic year.

After our announcement of the finalists, we asked our remaining candidates to provide a video submission detailing why they’re passionate about STEM and what they hope to accomplish in their chosen careers.

Though we were impressed with all our finalists, Joe’s final submission stood out for its sincerity and thoughtfulness. As he mentioned in his video, Joe’s interest in STEM started early:

“I’ve been passionate about STEM since about 6th grade when I joined a Lego League camp at my grade school. It introduced me to Lego Robotics and I loved working with my new friends to design and build our robots. The experience showed me that a STEM major was in my future.”

Joe went on to share how he plans to apply his education:

“My goal in life is to use my STEM education to make a positive impact on my community and on the world. I love engineering because it allows me to use my creativity and artistic side, and pair it with the practicality and logic of the STEM field. […] I will continue to learn how to learn how to effectively design and develop products that will improve people’s lives.”

We are honored to assist Joe in his ongoing pursuit of a degree and career in the STEM field and can’t wait to see what he accomplishes in the coming years.

We want to again thank the 145 students who applied for this year’s scholarship, and all those in our community who helped to raise awareness of the scholarship.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the opening of our 2020 STEM scholarship! Students who applied this year are welcome to apply again next year should they still meet the eligibility requirements.
