Using a strong password more important than changing your password frequently

Larry Magid, a technology journalist with CNET News, recently discussed a study published by the Chief Marketing Officers Council that highlighted the disconnect between people fears of security risks and what they do to protect themselves. To protect against phishing and identity theft, security and antivirus companies highly recommend that users change their passwords on a monthly basis. Larry takes issue with this saying:
While a terrific idea, it's unrealistic to expect people to change their passwords monthly though, as I pointed out in a recent post, it is important for social networkers to have very strong passwords and consider using a password manager like LastPass.
