Important Do’s and Don’ts for Securing Your COVID-19 Vaccination Card

LastPassApril 26, 2021
Now that all adults in the United States are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine and more and more people get vaccinated each day, we get closer to seeing an end to the pandemic. With vaccination rollouts comes the excitement of closing the door on a tough period for us all, so it only makes sense that vaccinated and soon-to-be vaccinated individuals want to share this major life event. However, there are critical security aspects to keep in mind as you schedule your vaccination appointment, share your news and secure your vaccination information.  We’ve put together a list of do's and don'ts to help ensure you can celebrate this exciting moment while also keeping your private data secure and protected Let’s dive in.

Do use LastPass to make your COVID-19 vaccine appointment.

Leverage LastPass to save and fill your personal information so you can quickly and effortlessly make an appointment online.  When you click on the in-field icon in the appropriate spots, LastPass will provide a drop down with your address and other form fill options like insurance info.

Don't share a photo of your COVID-19 vaccine card on social media.

You may be excited and want to proudly share the news with all your friends and family – but think twice before snapping a pic with your vaccine cardSharing this card online opens yourself up to identity theft since it has your full name, birth date, and where and when you received your vaccination

Do post a selfie with your ‘I got vaccinated’ sticker.

The safer option is to share a photo with your vaccine sticker. This is a great way to celebrate the news with your friends and family without putting yourself (and your personal information) at risk.

Don’t carry your vaccine card on your person.

While this may seem like a good idea, you increase the likelihood of damaging or losing the physical card. For a more full-proof approach, keep a digital copy on you.

Do upload a copy of your COVID-19 vaccine card in Secure Notes in LastPass

With LastPass Secure Notes, you can upload all important files to your secure vault and never be without a digital copy of any important document again. LastPass operates on a zero-knowledge security model and uses the strongest encryption available to keep your data private, secure, and hidden (even from us).

Don’t keep a copy of your vaccine card saved in your photos or texts.

Avoid saving a copy of your vaccine card in places that are not encrypted and completely secure.

Do upload the rest of your important files to LastPass.

Saving your vaccine card in LastPass keeps it encrypted, and easily accessible. While you're at it, use this checklist to upload yours and your families’ other sensitive information so that you have all your most important information handy and secure:
  • Passports
  • Drivers’ licenses
  • Medical insurance cards
  • Immunization records
  • Social security cards
