LastPass Updated with Performance Improvements

A LastPass update for all browsers is available. For most users, updates should go through automatically, though they can also be found on our downloads page here: https://lastpass.com/download

In the wake of our launch of LastPass 3.0, we’ve been working to make things faster and more powerful. Today’s release includes a number of bug fixes, performance enhancements, and fine-tuning of the product. For a full list of noted fixes and changes please see our release notes.

In addition, LastPass Premium users will enjoy some new features. On Android, the LastPass Premium app now supports the LastPass Security Challenge:

If you haven’t used this feature via the Tools menu of the desktop extension, the LastPass Security Challenge gives you a comprehensive overview of the data stored in your vault. The results identify all of your weak and duplicate passwords, and even alert you if your email address may have been involved in a breach, like Adobe’s in 2013. Now this great tool is at your fingertips!

Our Windows Phone users can also enjoy more multifactor authentication options with the LastPass mobile app, including Duo, Toopher, and Transakt by Entersekt.

We've got more changes in the works, so stay tuned!

  1. So what version is it now? It'd be handy if you said in this post. I went to the download page to find out the new version and it says 3.1.0 but I just checked the version installed on my computer and it's 3.1.1

    All a bit confusing :o/

    2. Apologies, the upgrade page does chronicle the most recent download versions, as does our downloads page: https://lastpass.com/download - officially the release is 3.1.0 but some browsers receive incremental updates and so have been bumped up.

  2. Why, after running the LastPass Universal Windows Installer, does it open Chrome if my default browser is Firefox?

It would also be nice if I could comment here using my twitter or FB account. LiveJournal and AIM? Really?

    1. Tiago: The Chrome install is included by default in the full installer, if you didn't uncheck it then the LastPass installer needs to launch Chrome to finish the installation there. It doesn't affect which browser is your default, simply works to complete the LastPass install in all available browsers.

Thanks for the feedback, we'll look at improving our blog authentication options.

  3. Ever since this update (occurred for me when I rebooted this morning), I have received a constantly appearing and disarming bar on the top of my browser informing me that the login server cannot be contacted. It is extremely annoying because it keeps coming and going randomly and it is continually displacing the page I looking at up or down.

    2. Seems like if I manually reinstall using the download, the problem stops. That means there was something wrong with the automatic update installation.

    3. I had the same issue. Also,Lastpass would log out after about 30 secs despite 10min setting in settings. Using Firefox 27.0.1 and Lastpass 3.1.1. Downloaded 3.1.0 and all seems right with the world again now.

  4. I use firefox on Apple products, iMac, MacBook Pro, and iPad 2. Is the Firefox glitch other users have commented on been fixed, if so, what download do I use to start using Last Pass, if not, what should I be waiting for? Do I have to go to Premium to use LP on on iPad2. Finally, must I manually enter all my passwords into LP or is that somehow done automatically? How will I know when you have answered my Qs, do you need my personal email address to get back to me and,if so, how will I know that?

    1. We recommend getting started by downloading the latest versions available on LastPass.com, on our downloads page: https://lastpass.com/download

We do recommend going Premium to use LastPass on your iOS devices, the LastPass for Premium Customers app is more flexible and full-featured. However, we do have a free app LastPass Tab for browsing, and LastPass Wallet for just storing notes (not sites).

If you were previously using a password manager, or a browser to manage your passwords, you can import through the set-up process after you download, or by using the tools in the LastPass Icon > Tools > Import from. Otherwise, you just start saving as you go, using the LastPass * icon to save sites as you browse and login for the first time with LastPass.

Going forward, it may be easiest to communicate with us by opening a support ticket: https://lastpass.com/supportticket.php if we can be of further help.
