The Windows 8 App Gets An Update!

Since the last update to the Windows 8 app, we've added even more requested features and improvements!

Of note in the latest version:

  • Grid is now supported as another multifactor authentication option
  • The "save password" option has been restored, and we added a PIN code option (configurable from the settings charm) to protect access to the app when you have "save password" enabled
  • Offline access to your vault is now available - note that you must login to the app at least once with online access, before your locally-stored, encrypted cache of your data is available without an Internet connection
  • An account creation wizard for new users, so you can create an account right from the app
  • Showing and accepting pending shares (for Enterprise users)
  • Additional time intervals for the "do not prompt" option

For those currently using the LastPass app, you'll see that we now default to show the appbar when an item is selected in the vault, instead of immediately launching the site, after users reported trouble figuring out how to select an item so they can get see the edit and copy options. If you want to revert this option, you can so so at any time in the app's settings.

Let us know your thoughts in the comments below - and be sure to leave a review in the app store!

  1. The LastPass app doesn't work with me. It never did, actually. It hangs up when you try to decrypt the passwords for the first time.

    1. Our current Windows Phone app supports Windows Phone 8, but we will be releasing a new version in the near future.

  3. My **ONLY** complaint (I'm not sure if this existed before, I only just now tried it) is that when the LastPass screen is docked on the left/right of the screen, the center mouse scroll doesn't scroll up/down. When it is in full screen, the center mouse scroll goes left/right. Just a little inconsistent, but again, a MINOR complaint. ;)

Also, just found the "Launch in browser when checked" button in General settings, that's awesome!!

  4. My groups are not listed in alphabetical order on my Windows Phone (HTC 8x) or my Surface. They're listed in this order: Sh, W, A, Mu, Mo, G, Ser, Sec, Mi, E, N, J. Any idea why that is?

  5. Huge problems running LastPass in Chrome - it keeps asking me to run Sesame application.

Given up and just use Firefox and yes I have tried reinstalling the app.

    1. Is this when running Chrome in metro mode? Have you tried installing in desktop mode then relaunching in metro mode? If you see any further issues please reach out to the team directly: https://lastpass.com/supportticket.php

  6. Lastpass doesn't work with Win8 and Chrome. I was very disappointed with this after upgrading my LastPass account. Come on - when will this be fixed?

  7. The "Set pin code" doesn't work for me on the surface - it's greyed out. When I choose to stay logged in, it never sticks, and the "Logout after idle time" also never works, so no matter what, I have to log in each time I try to use it. Hopefully these will get fixed going forward.

    3. To update on your report: "set pin code" is only enabled when the "save password" option is set on the
login screen. Is that the case for your set-up?

  8. Ah ha! That seems to be working. I'll let you know if it doesn't "stick". Thank you!! Happy New Year...

  9. It's not working properly on Android - it opens some sort of it's own crippled browser instead of filling passes & codes within native browser or Firefox. Negative point for otherwise very useful app.

    1. We do offer an addon for Firefox mobile, otherwise we cannot see into the native browser so sites have to be launched within the LastPass app. We also offer an addon for Dolphin Browser. Bookmarklets can be used in the native browser: http://helpdesk.lastpass.com/bookmarklets/ but they're more limited in functionality. We'll continue to look at improvements where possible.

    3. It would be handy to put it on the market (Google Play) as well.
But found it on your site & working well.
