It's really exciting that LastPass is making a strong effort to establish an integrated presence on Windows 8. I use LastPass for all my secure data and I'm happy to see that it has followed along in my own transition to W8!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the positive feedback, Henry!
DeleteExactly, Henry! I've been using LastPass since its early release and have it installed across all of my devices (including mobile). There have been times where competitive alternatives caught my eye, but only for a brief moment. At the end of day, I find myself coming back to LastPass. It's the secure data storage manager I've grown to know and love.
DeleteBruce, You have been lying to me from the moment i "noticed" You! Hope you have a wonderful new chapter to add to your novel of BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The Best thing you ever lost
DeleteI only have Win 8 Enterprise so far, but I'd like to ask if LastPass works on the tablets with Win RT? This is one of the most "must have" plugins, which I'll be missing on IE10 on Win RT, so you'll make my day, if you can confirm, that you somehow made it working :).
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work, I'm premium customer for more than 2 years, and I really, really like your work!
Yep, we support Win RT tablets!
DeleteLove it - Can't live with-out LastPass. Have Win RT and Win 8 Pro . . . would like stronger RT support. Looking good! Thank you for keeping up so quickly.
ReplyDeleteLet us know what features you would like to see on RT!
DeleteWill this fix an issue i see with the LastPass app on WinRT, where i get an error when logging in because i have the two-factor authentication turned on (but have set it so that mobile apps can over ride this - works fine on the iOS app)? I dont really want to disable this and would prefer it if the app could bypass it, like on iOS.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately we only support YubiKey and Google Authenticator with the LastPass app on WinRT, in the future we will likely try to set it up to bypass that limitation similar to mobile - unfortunately I don't have an ETA on when that may be pushed out.
Deleteawesome! Thanks LastPass!
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm in the IE10 app and go to a login screen of a site that has been saved in Lastpass, the auto login doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong or does Lastpass only work in the Lastpass browser? It worked fine in IE9. Should I be using the desktop version of IE10 in Windows 8 rather that the app? Thanks for your help.
ReplyDeleteThe modern IE10 does not support plugins, so we can not integrate directly with it. To get auto-fill, you either have to use the built-in browser in the LastPass app, or use it on the desktop version with the LastPass plugin.

ReplyDeleteHey, good job! Although there are still some problems:
ReplyDelete- When editing an entry, the Master Password shouldn't be prompt, but only when I ask to View Password (the eye button).
- The settings option Launch on Browser doesn't seem to be working, at least not on my end. It still launches on LastPass browser instead of my Firefox.
- The 'Do-Not Reprompt' option doesn't have the other standard values (3,6,12,24 hours).
- Trying to right click on websites on different columns doesn't select them. After your pointer changes the column, you must wait about 1 second before right clicking to be able to select the website (showing the options on the bottom of the screen).
Other than that, the app looks really cool! Congratulations!
- The master password should definitely be prompted when you select to edit, because there may be other information in the entry you would want to protect. Also, this is consistent with the behavior of the LastPass plugins on the desktop.
Delete- The launch in browser setting will only work if the app is snapped to the side, and IE is your default browser (or you have another modern-style browser that is the default). We've received a couple requests for an option to always launch in browser, but since that doesn't give you the benefit of auto-fill, and you have to flip back to LastPass to get the username and password, I'm not sure that's the best UX.
- I've added those values for the next build.
- Unfortunately we don't have a lot of control over that behavior, our app just gets notified when something is selected. So far I haven't been able to reproduce this here; I'm able to click and select in different columns pretty quickly. It could also be dependent on the number of entries in the grid. How many sites do you have?
LastPass is the best but it's not perfect - trying to add a single Windows 8 system using sesame 2FA security turned into a weekend-long nightmare.
ReplyDeleteJust could not get the confirmation email from LastPass. Support emails turned up but that's it. Verified that my email was working fine btw.
Did you check your spam folder?
DeleteTo enter master password through fingerprint has stopped working on Windows 8 for desktop browsers. Are you going to restore that?
ReplyDeleteThanks.
I have confirmed that our external Authentec/UPEK reader does enroll and works properly with the LastPass desktop browser plugins under Windows 8.
DeleteThere may be other reasons yours doesn't work. Do you have the latest drivers for Windows 8, and does the fingerprint reader show up in the list of biometric devices in the Device Manager? Are you able to enroll fingers using the manufacturer's software? Did you try re-enrolling your fingerprint through the LastPass security settings? (http://helpdesk.lastpass.com/security-options/fingerprint/) If you still have trouble getting this to work, please open a trouble ticket.
In a support request ticket from October 31 I received the answered that "Fingerprint auth has not yet been implemented in Windows 8" and there was no ETA.
DeleteI can enter my email and password, but it crashes out to the Start screen while it's 'decrypting sites'...any ideas? :)
