In our efforts to bring you expanded, go-anywhere access to your data, we're excited to announce that LastPass has acquired Xmarks! It's a great opportunity that not only ensures the survival of the Xmarks add-on, but will also enhance our mission to provide the best data-syncing tools out there.
Xmarks, formerly known as Foxmarks, provides the world’s leading browser add-on for cross-browser bookmark sync that has successfully grown to over 4.5 million users syncing more than 1 billion bookmarks across 5 million computers. Xmarks has become an integral part of the browsing experience for millions of users, and you can rest assured that we will continue to expand the service in the coming months.
Xmarks is transitioning to a "freemium" business model, the same model that allowed us to grow into a thriving, profitable business. The browser add-on and the vast majority of what users have enjoyed will remain free. Users can then opt to purchase Xmarks Premium for $12 per year, which includes new enhanced features like Android and iPhone mobile phone apps, priority support, and more. The Xmarks and LastPass Premium offerings are also available bundled together at a reduced subscription rate of $20 per year. For current LastPass Premium users, this means you can upgrade today for only $8 more per year.
We believe the acquisition will prove to be a success because of the common mission shared by LastPass and Xmarks. Xmarks complements LastPass' vision of secure, universal access to the information that gives you entry to your digital life. As the ultimate cross-browser, cross-platform team, Xmarks and LastPass will work together to help more people simplify their digital lives and access their data from anywhere, at any time.
We're excited to welcome Xmarks to the LastPass family, and hope you will support both of these great services through your business and your Premium subscription. For more information, please check out the FAQs.
The LastPass & Xmarks Teams
Fantastic! You've done a terrific job with LastPass, and I look forward to the same excellence in XMarks.
ReplyDeleteGood! Very good!
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic. I've benefited from using both of these products for quite a while. Really glad Xmarks has a future, and that LastPass is continuing to grow!
ReplyDeletecan't wait, xmarks couldn't wish for a better company to purchase them.
ReplyDeleteI have been a avid user of both, on PCs and mobile.
Will the bookmark syncing features be available for free users?
ReplyDeleteWow. This was the only thing missing... now there is hope Opera support is on the horizon, then I will lock myself back into the Opera universe!
ReplyDeleteInteresting. You know how you got LastPass working in Camino, well if you could do the same with XMarks, I'd give it a whirl.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Xmarks and Lastpass together are my cantlivewithout tools on the road. brb... upgrading my lastpass account. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are currently signed up for auto-renewal via Google Checkout. You must unsubscribe before you can purchase additional features.
ReplyDeleteWe apologize for the minor inconvenience, this will help ensure that LastPass Premium and Xmarks premium can continued to be bundled.
WHAT IS THAT !?
Awesome, can't wait!
ReplyDeleteNow bring xmarks to Opera web browser pleeeease?
ReplyDeleteOn my last renewal I paid for lastpass in advance for four years. Any chance I can still get the discount for xmarks. Really like to support your purchase.
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear this! Have really warmed up using LastPass on a daily basis. Used to use Foxmarks/Xmarks so it will be good to see the both of them together. I think it is a very complementary purchase and will help end users to both store and sync their bookmarks and passwords in a secure manner.
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous news. As a longtime user and fan of LastPass, plus one of the folks who was so upset about Xmarks going under, this sounds like a great combination. In fact, I think I even suggested it a few times ...
ReplyDeleteAwesome. A great start to the day hearing this. A second for Vegard's remark. As soon as this is put into Opera (along with a decent twitter client), Chrome's out the door. :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear it.
ReplyDeleteWe were concerned!
Glad to see their savior come forward!
http://www.myrealitytech.com/has-xmarks-found-a-savior/
so what now? how can we have a unified, single sign-on with these very beautiful tools?
ReplyDeleteThank goodness someone has saved XMarks. I will seriously consider the full package at that price. The only thing I need is Atomic Browser compatibility on the iPhone. Safari is awful!
ReplyDeleteAs a fan of LastPass and user of Xmarks and I am more than happy to hear this. Thanks a lot guys!
ReplyDeletewe are supporting you in any way we can...
This is amazing! Thank you, Xmarks and LastPass teams!
ReplyDeleteAwesome news! As a dedicated LastPass users, maybe this time I'll have to give Xmarks a try :)
ReplyDeleteGREAT!!
ReplyDeleteGreat and thanks ... two real handy tools become one :)
ReplyDeleteWoo Hoo ! There is a Santa Claus after all! Thanks guys. Two great apps!
ReplyDelete+1 for opera support :)
ReplyDeleteThe moment Xmarks announced its shutdown, I immediately thought rescue by LastPass would be the perfect answer. My dreams have come true! Now can you do the same for my address book/contacts? :) Thanks and keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the acquisition, but is there any reason why my more than 1,000 bookmarks don't come up when I log in at my.xmarks.com now? I've tried on multiple computers and the progress wheel in the browser just whirls and whirls and whirls and no bookmarks ever appear. I'd like to export a back up of them if possible, but I can't get them to show.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I got the notice from xmarks that they were going to be terminating their service, and I didn't know what I'd do... This is great!
ReplyDeleteFantastic! I absolutely love both products and it warms my heart to see them working together. :)
ReplyDeleteOne request: LastPass BYOS edition
Thanks!
Are we getting these two combined into one app? PassMarks? Great aquisition!
ReplyDeleteYay!
ReplyDeleteVery cool, congrats!
ReplyDeleteI am very thankful for this step! I loved Xmarks for it's cross browser solutions and lastpass is my first addon to install and with these two combined I am no more bound to Google Chrome or FF4 to synch my bookmarks. Thank You very much, Lastpass team! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's about the best outcome for all the Xmarks users, I'm really greatful for this! Thank you
ReplyDeleteOpera support vote here. Will sign up for premium.
ReplyDeleteI never used Xmarks but I know it was good. I will now, because I love Lastpass. I think its a very good combination to be honestly as both products fit more or less the same market. Just dont try to be all things under the sun. Logins and bookmarks, is enough for now :)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to add that the Opera Lastpass plugin works great. Keep the good work !!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome news! Love Xmarks and LastPass great combo/ Thanks LastPass.
ReplyDeleteVery good news. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see Xmarks integrated with LastPass, so that my bookmarks are all encrypted, unless I want to keep them separate. Encrypted bookmarks would be excellent, while LastPass sort of works like that, it isn't as setup for bookmarks, and even managing the hierarchy of current sites, is a hassle.
ReplyDeleteAlso the ability to only have to login to the application once. As opposed to both.
Will be good to see tighter integration between the 2 plugins.
(I'm using Chrome 8)
Lastpass for passwords, Xmarks for bookmarks. Here here for integration!
ReplyDeleteBRAVO!!!
ReplyDeleteNow Mac OS X ... is will be supported??
Awesome! This is great news. LastPass and Xmarks are the two extensions I use in all my browser installations.
ReplyDeleteIf you're having trouble upgrading (unzim and others) or if you're running into problems with the Xmarks extension, please email us at support@lastpass.com or support@xmarks.com and we'll help you sort it out.
ReplyDeletePlease change the web site XMARKS.
ReplyDeleteThe proxy of my company take XMARKS as porn site and blocks it.
I'll take the bundle. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteThis is GREAT! looking forward to see what you do together.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Awesomeness..!!!
ReplyDeleteI thought Xmarks is gonna shut down forever..
nice work LastPass team..!!
Hail LastPass & Xmarks..
great excellent.. finally you saved my the day... this is the best news i heard after a long time.... thank you thank you... :)
ReplyDeleteI think it would be interesting to embed the functionality of both into a single application. X-Marks had passwords sync, history and other things that could be absorbed by LastPass.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I loved this excellent news!
GJ!
ReplyDeleteI just downloaded Xmarks! And now, I can use my bookmarks were ever i go and on any computer!
ReplyDeleteOMFG.... now let them have amazing sex together and create one super app....
ReplyDeleteGreat!!
ReplyDeleteTwo of the best services on web just blended together!! We will wait for greater things in future!!!!
I've upgraded to premium in support of your recent aquisition. I use both apps and am glad that xmarks will be sticking around!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear this. Already purchased the upgrade for my lastpass account. Its great to see two of my favorite tools come together. I look forward to where this goes..
ReplyDeleteJust another guy who thinks both of these products are very useful and is pleased that they are joining forces.
ReplyDeleteNice Work Joe! I am rooting for you big time! Best, Anthony Solazzo
ReplyDeleteHoly shit, I don't think I can think of a better company to have acquired xmarks! Lastpass is an amazing program and company, and it just works. Same with Xmarks. This, is awesome.
ReplyDeleteTwo of my most used and favorite applications coming together. I signed up for premium service and urge all free users to do likewise. The products deserve applause for excellence ... and the cash price is a pittance for such useful applications.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! can't wait for some kind of combined browser plugin
ReplyDeleteGreat. These are the only plugins I install
ReplyDeleteI hope in the future it will be one product that combines both. I stopped using xMarks after Google chrome sync. But with LastPass capabilities integrated with xmarks .. i'm looking forward for that.
ReplyDeleteThis is very very good. I was hoping on this, but I never expected this. As a user of both products, it's good to see that Lastpass has listened to the community which make them even better. Thanks folks, this is really appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI'll upgrade to the premium version once xmarks offers a Blackberry version :)
ReplyDeleteParabéns à LastPass! Uma bela iniciativa, que vai manter vivo o Xmarks, com um estilo de negócio que merece aplausos. Deixo meu desejo de sucesso nessa nova fase.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations from Brazil!
Awesome news !!
ReplyDeleteLastPass and Xmarks are truly awesome add-ons. I'm really glad Xmarks won't end.
Awesome! I was using xmarks and roboform. Now I am ready to switch to last pass premium and xmarks for both services from one source. This is a great news.
ReplyDeleteVJ
Fantastic! Foxmark and Lastpass are my favorite services
ReplyDeleteWoooooooooooooow vary goood
ReplyDeleteWonderful news!!! 2 great services worth to pay!
ReplyDeleteWe all thank you for letting Xmarks live and grow.
I recently stumbled across XMarks myself when looking for such a solution. But why should I use this over Firefox Sync?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that Xmarks isn't going to die now. I have been using Xmarks for years and was every unhappy at the announcement that Xmarks was going to close in Jan 2011.
ReplyDeleteSo, thank you lastpass, for letting Xmarks live on.
This is great news! I'm glad Last Pass acquired Xmarks as I am already both an Xmarks and Last pass user. Knowing that it's staying is a relief. Now I don't have to worry where or how to export my gazillion of bookmarks.
ReplyDelete鼓励一下哈,这个真的是大好事阿....
ReplyDeleteIt sounds great... I've been using both for a while, but I am still waiting for the promised Brazilian Portuguese language pack, so that I can finally sign up for the Premium package...
ReplyDeleteHoping to see it available soon...
Brilliant!!!
ReplyDeleteXMarks is a security NIGHTMARE!!! All you bookmarks out there on the internet for all to see!!! I for one, will not use XMarks until they introduce private encrypted bookmarks. I don't want my passwords out there on the internet, so why my bookmarks?! Encrypt them all NOW!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with above, Xmarks not secure, very dangerous,
ReplyDeleteBravo! And Bravo again.
ReplyDeleteLastPass has almost always worked wonderfully for me, but Xmarks was a buggy mess that I got rid of because it was so bad. If your acquisition is about bringing Xmarks up to speed, then I'm all for it, except I hope your valuable programming time isn't sucked up by what I consider to be a less important thing than password management. After all, I don't spend a lot of time going to bookmarked sites, but I do often need to use my passwords. I urge you to be careful not to lose focus!!
ReplyDeletefor continuing and improving, i thank U
ReplyDeleteyes it's terrific ! i also used both xmarks and lastpass speratly...now i'm happy :o) il will upgrade !
ReplyDeleteWell, that is great NEWS indeed - have been using both services for some time and am as of today a Premier - wishing a great head-start into the NEW YEAR - ZNOX
ReplyDeleteOut of all the plug ins out there, the one bookmark manager I use and the one password manager I use are merging. How good is that!
ReplyDeleteОтличная новость.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! LastPass rules, so "extending" it to cover all my bookmarks is a no-brainer!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is the best possible scenario. Two of my favorite services coming together!
ReplyDeleteawesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteFantastic ! I use the 2 products and I love them !!
ReplyDeleteGreat, really !
Fabrice, Toulouse, France
This is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI'm using both applications too and I didn't want Xmarks to die. Great job, really!
Lastpass and Xmarks together is gonna be bananas.
ReplyDeleteBoth xmark and lastpass are my first installs when i install my browser...cant want
ReplyDeletei always loved both of them, so i guess that together they´ll be better than ever! :)
ReplyDeleteTotally AWESOME. Xmarks was great, now I can see it getting the improvements it needed like easier bookmark sorting and organising, maybe enhanced drag and drop functionality, and overall more intuitive, beside that, xmarks still lead the pack in terms of bookmarking tools, now I'm confident to see a lot faster development on the horizon....i hope it's not wishful thinking, it i see some action, I'm a goin' premium
ReplyDeleteThe perfect acquisition. Could not be happier.
ReplyDeleteSO happy! I'm an xmark user, and an thrilled. And now, I've learned about LastPass too - and I will be getting it as well!
ReplyDeleteGreat news! I can't think of a better partnership. Best wishes on a successful relationship!
ReplyDeleteHave been using XMarks in the past...great app. I'm now switching to LastPass from KeyPass for my pw needs. What a great combo!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to an IOS browser with both LastPass and Xmarks built in! That would become my default mobile browser.
ReplyDeleteAlready a LastPass premium member, just upgraded xMarks to premium as well. These two products are simply the best web apps out there. Thank you LastPass for making an excellent product....this news is a dream come true!
ReplyDeleteThanks for getting Xmarks back to real live. It is the most useful sync tool I ever seen!
ReplyDeleteBetter than sliced bread!
ReplyDeleteI've been using both these apps for some time. They compliment each other perfectly!
ReplyDeleteI'm very relieved that LastPass has purchased Xmarks and that the app will continue. LastPass and Xmarks are "MUST HAVE" apps!
Good news... users are happy now :)
ReplyDeleteExcellent. Don't need the Xmarks premium services today, but I promised to support you if you found a way to keep going, so I sent in $24 for 2 years service. Keep up the good work. And maybe I'll give LastPass a try. If it is half as good a Xmarks, it will be a winner for me. Thanks, again.
ReplyDeleteLike Chocolate and Peanut Butter.
ReplyDeleteAccording to my commitment, I have my premium account Xmarks ;)
ReplyDeletebonjour et merci d'avoir acheter Xmarks! avec lastpass c'est mes 2 extensions indispensable de firefox (c'est dommage qui le mette pas en native dans firefox)
ReplyDeletebonne continuation
de la part de kevin
Thank you. Terrific news
ReplyDeletePlease don't join the two services into one. I don't have a good feeling uploading my passwords somewhere else than my braincells ;)
ReplyDeletedisi
Thank you for saving xmarks! Going by all these comments from your currents users us xmarks users should be in good hands.
ReplyDeleteI have been using both free services for a long time now. I don't have a need for the premium service but I am going to upgrade to keep these great services alive! I can't imagine what I would do without both of these. They are the first things I install on any machine!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work.
I pledged to support XMarks when they asked for help and I did when it came time to pay. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteSuperb news. I pledged. I waited. I stopped using anything but Safari due to fear of chaos in bookmarks (and iphone.pad compatibility). Got your e-mail today and just subscribed to XMarks premium. Worth every penny. Installing Firefox and Chrome now.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a great job with acquiring xMarks, which has made my life SO much easier on a daily basis.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
For those unfamiliar with LastPass services it is important to have a convincing first look effect. I came from an email sent by xmarks support and what I see is the small top row designed with traditional colors of a cheap-porn website!
ReplyDeleteShould I trust all my passwords and personal bookmarks to that kind of site?
I believe it should be fixed, guys. XMarks is really good at professional assuring design.
Thanks a lot for keeping Xmarks alive. When I get my first Android I will upgrade.
ReplyDeleteDude...what are u talking about? Never, ever seen that before. You appear to be experiencing browser issues.
ReplyDeleteThis is some awesome news, I was worried I was going to lose my favorite add-on! I will be signing up for the premium service for sure.
ReplyDeleteNot only did Xmarks survive, it teamed with another great service. Really great news. Very happy indeed. Off to pay for premium now!
ReplyDeleteThank-you LastPass for breathing a second life into XMarks.
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I would be totally lost without this service as we utilize several computers each during the work-day and evenings, and we were worried that we would have to start keeping bookmarks on flash-drives again.
Well worth the $12/yr for the Premium Service.
XMarks Rocks. And now so does LastPass!
Like VJ of December 4, 2010 10:41 PM, I am currently using Roboform but I'll make the switch because sometimes mergers are good!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!!! Love XMarks and so glad to see it alive and well!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Just i thought xmarks will be gone and start using delicious. You guys come along, joining my two best friends.
ReplyDeleteGreat news. Really. Xmarks is a terrific plus.
ReplyDeleteI pledged to support Xmarks when its demise was first announced.
Earlier today, I emailed my $12 for the Premium level -- am still am unable to get it despite an email from Xmarks saying I indeed do have it.
As requested, I logged out then in.... Still no Premium sign that I could find, except for the offer to buy it.
What's the problem: me or Xmarks? If the latter, can you fix it or give me back my $12?
Mort --
ReplyDeleteYou can confirm your premium status on your profile and 'My Account' pages on xmarks.com.
My suspicion is that you have been upgraded successfully.
Thanks for the support!
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteI found LastPass looking for an alternative to Xmarks when I learned it was going out of Business.
But I couldn't find a good alternative to keep in sync Firefox and Chrome bookmarks!
Thanks to both teams for the great work!!!
Best regards,
Enrique, from Argentina.
Lastpass looks pointless... but il gladly purchase the premeium xmarks!
ReplyDeleteGreat. OK, time to upgrade to Xmarks Premium, as I pledged to do.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! two great tastes that (hopefully will) taste great together!
ReplyDeleteAny plans to add functionality to allow users to synch add-ons in Firefox the way Siphon does? That would be great!
I will be upgrading to the bundle soon!
Great!!!
ReplyDeleteFavorites and passes anywhere!
Excellent news. Just received an e-mail telling me about this plus the fact that I can upgrade to X-marks premium. Since I don't own a smart phone, I have no need of this, but WOULD like to contribute/donate money to X-marks continued development.
ReplyDeleteWhat should I do ???
Michael Simpson
@Anonymous -- if you'd like to contribute the best thing is to simply go Premium -- even though you don't need the mobile support you might get a new feature we add in the future...
ReplyDeleteI pledged, I paid. I hope all Xmarks users will do the same. This is the most useful service (after the browser itself) I have for internet access.
ReplyDeleteI love this two services!
ReplyDeleteI upraded for Xmarks Premium.
Thanks to LastPass
I've used both LP and Xmarks for quite awhile. When I heard that XMarks was going away, I was dreading having to uninstall the application and have been holding on until the very end. This is exciting news!!! I love LP Premium and will be paying the extra $8 a year. This is fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteLove it! already upgraded...just wish I could set it to auto renewal right now.
ReplyDeleteBoth services are great, when XMarks announced it was shutting down I immediately thought that LastPass should buy them. I'm glad you did.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I got the email about X-mark closing down you were the first ones I thought it would be perfect for. I use both these services everyday and I will upgrade to x-marks premium for no other reason then to say THANKS! Keep up the great work.
ReplyDeleteFUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome news! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Joe and the Gang!
ReplyDeleteFinally Lastpass will get bookmarks!
Thanks for the early Xmas present guys. My two favourite tools now in one great package. Now I have even more reason to evangelise about how good Lastpass and Xmarks are!
ReplyDeleteExcellent!!!!!!!!! I am not familiar with Lastpass but I will definitely give it a look. I also just subscribed for three years premium to follow through with my pledge to Xmarks.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!
Thank You, LastPass for preserving Xmarks which I use for both personal and business bookmarks sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear it a much! I use Xmarks and LastPass both and this is awesom news! 2 my the lovest plugins is united! GREAT!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I see lastpass as a bookmark manager of sorts already. If some of the better features of xmarks were integrated into lastpass that would make me happy. But I'm not sure that it would really be worth 66% premium.
ReplyDeleteLastPass is a great tool ... used FoxMarks for years ... seems you will be competing against the synch "feature" available in Firefox 4.X ... good luck ... BTW I am a premium member and LastPass is worth the money.
ReplyDeletethank you lastpass
ReplyDeleteI have been using LastPass for years now, and just upgraded to Premium last month to take advantage of the Dolphin HD plugin on Android. LastPass on Dolphin is a great product, my only wish is to gain access to the password vault through the plugin.
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing prospect and add on to my lastpass subscription, and I just bought it. I hope to see this brought to Dolphin HD as well, and I do hope my funds find their way supporting that effort.
Congrats!
ReplyDeleteCongratulation! My two favorite plug-ins together at last!
ReplyDeleteI was sad to hear about the demise of Xmarks. It's really great to hear Lastpass is keeping them alive. I honestly can't think of a better company I'd rather see take the reigns from Xmarks than Lastpass!
ReplyDeleteTwo teams doing an excellent job on one of the most usefull finctionnalities joining their force, that's great !
ReplyDeleteWhen is the contact syncho coming (expecially between Gmail and outlook that doesn't really exist) ? You are the best placed to do so.
I use both tools alot. Upgrading now. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteGreat........
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for saving Xmarks.........
Yet another cherry! Thank you guys. You made my day....Thank you guys.....once again.
ReplyDeleteI previously have used free versions of both and the threat of losing Xmarks will prompt me to purchase a subscription because I would like to see both products fiscally secure in the future.
ReplyDeletewow!!! That is great news!!! I use both tools and was very sad to learn that XMarks would be shutting down. What a perfect combination!
ReplyDeleteTo quote Spock, "Live long and prosper."
ReplyDeletecongratulation!
ReplyDeleteA million thanks for saving Xmarks. I've never used LastPass, but I'm going to give it a try and subscribe to both.
ReplyDeleteFascinating! Two of the very best and most useful tools that have substantially supported my cyberspace experience for quite some time are joining: what a good idea, what a great chance. I wish you a bright future!
ReplyDeleteSorry, but without 2ways sync between iPads Safari and IE the paid option makes no sense.
ReplyDeleteAs I love LastPass, I bought Xmarks right away, but am disappointed about this missing feature.
great news, hope more features are coming.....
ReplyDeleteI like both LastPass & XMarks! Having them combined would be convenient.
ReplyDeleteBUT, your methodology for updating my account is both arcane & unfair. I paid $12.00 2 months ago for LastPass. Now to upgrade you want me to CANCEL my account. Nothing is said about getting credit for the $10 pro-rated value lost in a cancellation. You want me to LOSE money to upgrade??
Gee folks! Either you've done a very poor job of communicating the fairness of the details of how to upgrade, OR your leadership is making some foolish, selfish, and unfair decision that reflect a lot more care for the $$ than for true customer service.
I can see it makes economic sense. I lose $10 to you for unused services & immediately pay you $20. Your bottom line looks great. But honestly, it FEELS like you're stealing money from me - NOT serving me.
You really should either program a method for paying a small upgrade fee - or just give the upgrade to every existing Professional subscriber and bill the full amount next time.
I admit that I haven't searched every inch of your site to see if you explain somewhere else that something I'm seeing is not the truth, but your current method of telling everyone logging in & wanting to update to CANCEL their account does reflect the above.
Hank
Hank,
ReplyDeleteFirst, thanks for your support.
1) You don't lose any money. When signing up for the bundle, the idea is to leave you with only one subscription to maintain (rather than two different subscriptions that end on two different dates that would likely cause you even more heartache in the future).
2) Yes, it seems like there should be a better/easier way, but we couldn't find one that would work with both Google Checkout and PayPal.
If you go through the steps on the update page, you'll see that you never lose any credit.
Sorry for the confusion - we'll update the upgrade page to make this clearer.
Thanks,
LastPass
this is good news guys. i realy thought of loosing an integral part of my digital life. thumbs up!
ReplyDeleteI love both services. I use xmarks for firefox and lastpass for google chrome. that's great that the deal was made with sucess!
ReplyDeleteJust heard about the good news on the acquisition of Xmarks. Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteI have been using LastPass for some time. So knowing this, it still not too late to learn more abt Xmarks.
A wonderful combination.
Thanks,
Perfect combination. So glad Xmarks is not going away and couldn't think of a better partner to keep it going.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the clarification!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure others will appreciate an update to the wording on the upgrade page so there isn't confusion.
Hank
Simply love it !
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
Cool, that saves me a lot of trouble!
ReplyDeleteThis. Is. AWESOME. I switched to LastPass because of xmarks going out. Now it looks like I get to keep everything. ;D
ReplyDeleteI was struck hard when I heard Xmarks was going under, and wasn't sure what to trust with my information, so I was in a bit of a hard place. The news that Xmarks was staying afloat was awesome, and when I looked to see who had acquired them, I knew I would have to try out LastPass finally. Great move IMHO, and you have at least one new customer thanks to it. ^^
ReplyDeleteI moved from xmarks to firefox sync. I guess it's time to move back once again...
ReplyDeleteso happy !!!!
ReplyDeleteYipeeeh, what a dreamteam. I'm excited how they will merged into one killerapp!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat news! I have used LastPass for months now and love your service.
ReplyDeleteTodd
Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI expected this. Lastpass has finaly listened to the community.
Nice one, its my first day with lastpass (thanks so much gawker!), but I've used xmarks forever.
ReplyDeleteI am a loyal xmarks user, and will soon be a LastPass premium member!
ReplyDeleteWhat's the added functionality of LastPass? Xmarks syncs passwords already... Is there something about lastpass that makes it more secure than just using xmarks to sync passwords?
ReplyDeletetoo bad we still need different id's for each one. i was hoping for a consolidated ID.
ReplyDeletetoo late i jumped ship
ReplyDeleteshould have been done soon
not going to change all the pcs back now
I'm very delighted the deal worked out, consumer power in action, thanks for listening to your many customers who asked if you could help the owners of xmarks, a very wise move
ReplyDeleteyaaaaaaay!
ReplyDeleteI am very happy as I was a good user of Xmarks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the support.
I'm really glad to hear that Xmarks will live on - I've used it for years and thought it a shame when I heard that is was going. And $12 a year for the extra features is a real bargain.
ReplyDelete'Tis the Season to be MOST Jolly, indeed!
ReplyDeleteSweet! Love both services, and am a premium member on both. ^_^
ReplyDeleteOn that...any word on rebates for premium services if you're using both? ... Please?
Also, is LastPass (or it's parent company ...if it has one) planning on going public? (As in publicly traded?)
I'd LOVE to snag some stock since your services are so excellent.
...also considering the mass of personal info you host, I wouldn't be surprised if you were purchased by big Goog sometime in the future. ;-p *=$$Cha-Ching!$$*
I've been won over by LastPass and am going Premium shortly for integration with Dolphin HD on my Droid. I'm excited by the news that LastPass has taken over XMark, but until/unless they add parity to Delicious (including import - or Sync - of ALL Delicious bookmarks PRESERVING TAGS), I can't see switching from Delicious. For one, I have over 1400 bookmarks with heavy tagging and for another, I rely on the security features of Delicious to keep some private, some public/shared....
ReplyDeleteyuppyyyy...i really appreciate the step of Lastpass on behalf of die hard user of Xmarks..:)grt
ReplyDeleteYEAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! :D
ReplyDelete
